The WikiEducator Challenge

- to embed media into the content - free from copyright restrictions
- to develop tools and technology that are easy to use, and allow the simple creation of educational content
About Randy
I am currently working as a consultant at The Commonwealth of Learning in Vancouver, managing the Commonwealth Executive MBA / MPA Programmes in developing countries within the Commonwealth.
Sitting in the next office, is WikiEducator lead-guru, Wayne Mackintosh, who has turned me onto the promise and power of WikiEducator: an evolving community intended for the collaborative:
- planning of education projects linked with the development of free content;
- development of free content on Wikieducator for e-learning;
- building of capacity and sustainable communities of support for educators;
- work on building open education resources (OERs) on how to create OERs;
- networking on funding proposals developed as free content.
In April 2007, I attended The Tectonic Shift Think Tank meeting that brought together an international group of thought leaders to COL headquarters in Vancouver from April 11-13, 2007, to explore future paths for Mediawiki, Free Cultural Works and eLearning for development.
A Win-Win Opportunity
After this 3-day meeting, I realized that I could use my talents to help the WikiEducator community, and potentially achieve my personal goal of attending graduate school in 2008 (i.e., MBA, MS in Organization Development and/or Distance Learning - yet to be decided).
My interests include marketing (advocacy/outreach), organizational development / project collaboration and innovation. I am specifically interested in projects that build capacity, leverage relationships and results, and lead to smooth implementation within communities, networks, alliances and consortia.
An Hour a Day
I will be devoting an hour a day to help build an exciting WikiEducator community: whether facilitating collaboration and dialogue; introducing innovative ideas and experiences from other disciplines; identifying areas for content development and potential roles people can play; or simply facilitating connections and relationships within, and external to the WikiEducator community.
Sponsoring My Education
If you find this service to be valuable, please consider making a donation to sponsor the costs of my graduate education. I very much appreciate it, and find a great deal satisfaction in that you are supporting me, as I support WikiEducator.
